Glen Crowley Fundraisers & Update

Just clarifying the situation about Glen Crowley fundraisers: The Oct 29th posting about Glen Crowley has disappeared from the club’s website for unknown reasons.  That hasn’t caused the fundraisers themselves to disappear. Here’s the fundraising information again:

Time's running out for getting tickets to the Waring House event.

The ‘GoFundMe’ internet account for Glen is at https://www.gofundme.com/glen-crowley. It’s for collecting money to deal with his special needs. 97% of every donation will go to Glen.
Please contribute generously to help Glen.

Note that  Glen’s (& Jennifer Logan’s) Kelly’s Restaurant is now officially closed. His Sports Den business will also be closing, and his badminton racquet stock is being circulated through COBA clubs looking for buyers. The stock has gone to the Belleville Club after which unsold stock goes to clubs further west, starting with the Ridges Club.

That's all for now,

Terry

November badminton & Round Robin Nights

Please note the following information.

1) Just in: We won’t get the gyms until 7:30 pm on Thurs. Nov. 8th.

2) We now plan to have a Round Robin (RR) Night on Nov. 15th as well as on Nov. 22nd. Until attendance is consistently large enough, the club will have RR nights infrequently and only when Belleville Club members are guaranteed to visit us, which is when their permits are cancelled. Nov. 15th and Nov. 22nd are the first such opportunities. Once our club’s nightly attendance becomes large enough we may resume having RR nights twice a month, spaced at least two weeks apart.

Players age 14 and over are eligible to play in the round robins provided they can play till 9:30 if necessary. They must sign up for the RRs by 7:20 p.m. at the latest. There will always be regular play for those not wanting to play in the round robins.

See you on court,

Ye Executive.

Selling Glen Crowley's Racquets

The club’s trying to help Glen Crowley by selling some badminton racquets for him. They are from his stock at Kelly’s Restaurant and will be at the club next week for inspection and sale. After that, the racquets will be transferred for selling at the Belleville Badminton Club. The list is shown below, with racquets #9 and #20a being sold last night. Every sale is a welcome help for Glen.

News about the Executive:
Mark has retired from the executive and from our club. He has become an executive member of BBC (the Belleville Badminton Club). Mark has contributed in many major ways to our club. As treasurer, he handled the club’s finances and various school board issues. He also developed and managed our website as well as the club’s Round Robin activities. We thank Mark for all the time and effort he has devoted to our club.
Mark will strengthen the ongoing relationship we have with BBC and he’ll be here to play from time to time along with other BBC members.
Mike P. has been an executive in name only for the past two years while he prepared for becoming a real estate agent. Mike was Mark’s technical support for developing and refining our website. Mike has resigned and is a full-time realtor.
Henry T. is now the club’s treasurer. He will be arranging for other aspects of Mark’s activities to continue. Henry will as well continue with his coaching, annual tournament, and interclub promotional activities.
Andy D. has joined the executive as a director and will be involved with Henry to assure the club’s website and communications activities continue.
Dave C. continues as a director. He chairs executive and club meetings and contributes sound advice when needed. His wife, Barbara, is now retired which means their personal activities will expand and we’ll see Dave less often at the club.
Terry M. continues as president. He’s recovering from a full-knee replacement operation and is not supposed to play badminton until mid October. He will be at the club from day one to help with sign-ins and fee-taking. He’ll also be updating adverts about the club to media, community links, and to the general public.
More directors are required to help keep the club going. The club is now in its 13th year. Terry is close to a retirement that will be mandated by the physical limitations of age. Please let the executive know if you feel you can help the club in any way.

Thanks,

See you on court.
