This is to let you know that tonight's badminton is cancelled because the roads are too dangerous for driving in.

Looks like Belleville Badminton Club is open tonight, but please check their calendar for the latest information.  Please note that Belleville is an adult club for those aged 19 and over.

Hope to see you Thursday,

Happy New Year 2017

We hope you’ve had a good Christmas break and are looking forward to playing badminton again. That’ll burn off some of the extra calories taken in over the holiday.

Badminton resumes on Tues. Jan. 10th. January will be a busy month, as follows:

Henry will be available every Thursday in the 6 to 7 p.m. time slot, in the small gym, for juniors and anyone else who wants special coaching. Please arrange your sessions with him ahead of time when you’re at the club, or via 613-395-5798 or via email to henry.toews@yahoo.com.

Two round robin nights are scheduled for January (Thurs. Jan. 12 and Tues. Jan. 24). As usual, courts will be available for regular play for those who don’t play in the round robins. Round robin players must check in with Mark by 7:15, must be at least 14 years old, and must be prepared to stay until 9:30.

January 26 is the Glen Crowley Night, a night that unfortunately couldn’t be scheduled before Christmas because of school events and Glen’s other commitments. Besides being able to make minor repairs onsite, Glen will have a wide range of badminton stuff for sale (socks, shoes, tops, grips, bags, etc) and may have demonstrator racquets to try out.

The club’s 10th anniversary occurs in January, on Jan. 12 to be exact. We’ll have a special anniversary/pizza night in February, date yet to be decided. We may hold a General Meeting on the same night.

See you on court,

The Exec.

December badminton

December’s full badminton schedule can be found on the club's calendar, but here are the highlights:

1) Two round robin nights have been scheduled, the first being on Thursday December 8th, and the second being on Tuesday the 20th.  Please remember that players participating in round robins must be at least 14 years old and must sign in by 7:20 with Mark, and must be prepared to stay until 9:30 if necessary.  Courts will be available for regular play for those not wanting or not eligible to play in round robins.

2) Our Christmas Pub Night is Thursday December 22nd.  A few of us leave the club around 9:00 to 9:30 p.m. and go to the Barley Pub for snacks and socializing until around 10:30.  Everyone is welcome to attend (including the juniors).

3) For Christmas gifts for the badminton player in your life Glen Crowley aka the "String Doctor" has a wide selection of equipment, services, and gift certificates available.

4) Badminton Ontario is recruiting enthusiastic volunteers to become accredited Line Judges for the 2017 Pan American Junior Badminton Championship being held in July 2017.

Junior athletes and adults are welcome.  All those interested are invited to join a training session led by Dennis Lam (Line Judge Coordinator).  Training sessions are in Toronto on Dec 17th or 18th and will include a 45 min classroom session followed by on court practical experience.

November badminton

November’s full badminton schedule can be found on the club's calendar, but here are the highlights:

1) Two round robin nights have been scheduled, the first being on Thursday November 3rd, and the second being on Tuesday the 15th.  Please remember that players participating in round robins must be at least 14 years old and must sign in by 7:20 with Mark, and must be prepared to stay until 9:30 if necessary.  Courts will be available for regular play for those not wanting or not eligible to play in round robins.

2) We will be contacting Glen Crowley this week to arrange for the club’s annual Glen Crowley Night which will be later this month or early in December on a date that fits school activities (we’ll advise you later of the actual date).  That’s the night when Glen brings a wide selection of badminton-related stuff for club members to try out or purchase, such as clothes, running shoes, racquets and accessories.  He also does minor repairs that night, and takes away racquets for restringing.  The club provides light snacks.
