Badminton is BACK! at Centre Hastings Badminton Club

 Greetings to perspective and returning players!

    We are excited to announce the Centre Hastings Badminton Club is starting Tuesday, Sept. 10th at the Central Hastings School (formerly Centre Hastings Secondary School).

    Session 1 regular play will proceed Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00PM until 9:30PM from Sept. 10th to Jan 30th. This session features up to 38 nights of play, subject to cancellation during school events.

Session 2 regular play will proceed from February 4 to May 29 with possibility of extension in June. Up to 32 nights of play.

Price for the 2024-2025 Season will remain at $55 per session and $6 nightly drop-in.

Secondary Student Special Rate is $30/session and $3 nightly drop-in. 

Non Marking shoes are required, as well as eye protection for attendees under 19 years of age. Racquets and shuttles are available to borrow.

June 13 badminton cancelled

 

Please note that there will be no badminton on Thurs. June 13. 

Also, remember: the last night of badminton is June 20.

Badminton will resume in early September; date yet to be determined.

Club’s Year End under New Management

Today’s email contains several important announcements.

Ongoing rehearsals for the school’s play will deprive us of the last 2 scheduled play nights of our regular season, so there will be no badminton on May 14 & 16. Instead, there will be badminton on May 21 & May 23.

 

Some of our players are keen to play beyond the regular season, from May 28 to June 20. Session fees don’t cover the extra nights, so all players will have to pay the normal nightly fees in order to cover gym rent costs.

 

The May 28 to June 20 period will be supervised by Eli Levi and Aren-Kramer Schwartz. Eli first played at the club as a young junior, along with his father Mike and brother Ahodhan. After a lengthy absence, Eli returned to the club last year as an exceptionally talented and caring player.  Aren first started indoor badminton, here, at the club in 2023. She is enthusiastic and lives for the sport, and has rapidly improved her skills.

 

Most importantly for the club in the long run, is that Eli, with Aren’s help, has agreed to manage the club into the future. So, from May 28th onward the club will have energetic younger people at its helm. At 87, after 18 1/2 years heading the club’s executive, I’m more than pleased to pass the baton on to Eli and Aren. The rest of the current executive (David, Mark & Ellen) share my perspective.

Badminton Cancelled on Thursday April 11th

The school board has advised us that badminton is cancelled on Thursday April 11th due to a school event. Please come out on Tuesday if you want to play badminton this week.

March Break

Just letting you know that this Thursday, March 7, is our last night of badminton before the school's March Break. The first night of badminton after the break is Tues. March 19th.

Tonight's Badminton is cancelled due to weather

 Just letting you know that tonight;s badminton was cancelled because the ongoing snow is expected to cause dangerous driving conditions.

Just letting you know that the start of badminton on Tues. Feb 6th will be delayed to 7:30 because of school activities.

Another weather disruption

Sorry to say, but today's snowy slippery weather means badminton is cancelled tonight. The school board wants the custodians to be able to go home early and safely. So Thursday Jan 11 will now be our first night of badminton in 2024, starting at 7:00 pm. In the meantime, Keep safe and warm.

Badminton in 2024

Happy New Year everyone. 

We hope you had a great Christmas break, and are looking forward to lots of enjoyable badminton in 2024. 

Badminton resumes at our club on Tuesday Jan. 9th at 8 pm (a late start), and thereafter runs most Tuesdays and Thursdays to May 16, usually going from 7 pm to 9:30 pm. 

The first half of our badminton season officially ends on Thursday Jan 11, following which membership renewals will be required for those wanting to avoid paying nightly fees.

PS:    If you want to play badminton before Jan 9th, the Belleville Badminton Club invites our players to Quinte Christian High School on Jan 2 and Jan 4, from 7 to 10 pm. Guest fee is $10.00.  Those nights were available under the Christian School Board but not under our School Board. The school is on Wallbridge Loyalist Rd., north of Hwy 2.
