Team Tournament a resounding success
We hosted our first annual Team Tournament May 6th. The tournament was a tremendous success. The day proceeded without a hitch and the feedback from participants was extremely positive.
Big “Thank You" to our chair Henry. He put an incredible amount of effort into the organization. All that effort resulted in a tournament that was not only fun on court and on the sidelines, but was lots of fun after play ended when prizes were distributed. I’ve been to many different tourneys in my 50+ years of badminton and have never seen one that was supported by so many sponsors. Through their generosity (and Henry's considerable effort) the tourney supplied complimentary refreshments, the competition prizes, the many draw prizes, and giveaway swag-bags for participants and volunteers. As well, player donations and a portion of registration fees were used to contribute goods and $200 to local food banks.
Much appreciation to our volunteers (Ross, Andy, Terry, Joan, Dan, Anil, Margaret) whose efforts resulted in a seamless tournament. And our gratitude to the Belleville Club (particularly Tom and Kay) who showed a tremendous generosity of spirit in sharing the infrastructure of their established tournament.
Thanks to everyone that attended and made the day what it was. There really was a fun "vibe".
On behalf of the rest of the club,
Terry Mandzy, Pres.
