Badminton's Christmas Break Schedule

Christmas is right around the corner which means no badminton during the school's Christmas break. 

Our last night of play prior to the break is Thursday December 21st. Our first night of play after the break is Tuesday January 9th. 

Note also that Thursday Dec. 14 & Tuesday January 9th will be 8:00 pm late-start nights for badminton, because of school activities.

Assuming this will be the last notice in 2023 about schedule changes, 

this notice is our opportunity to .....

Badminton cancelled due to icy road conditions

 Please note that we have had to cancel tonight's badminton because the roads in Madoc have become quite treacherous with ice. Best to stay safe at home.

Great badminton's here again!

"We hope you have had a good summer and are looking forward to an opportunity to play badminton. 

 

 The Centre Hastings Badminton Club will start on Tuesday, September 12. Playing times are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 9:30 pm. at the Centre Hastings School in Madoc! 

 

Come and join us, and bring friends!

Newcomers are always welcome!

Equipment provided!

Adult Fees     - Session 1 Membership @ $55; 

                       - Session 1 Nightly @ $6; 

 

Junior Fees      - Session 1 Membership @ $30.

Session 2 - Jan. 16, 2024 to May 16, 2024. (Fees yet to be set.)"

June 13 Badminton

 Just letting you know that badminton tomorrow, June 13, will be in the small gym because the large gym will be used by an audience watching the school play.

If the street is all parked up when you arrive, access the custodian’s parking area via the driveway along the school’s south side. The custodian's area school doors lead to the hall and the small gym.

June Badminton

The end of the season is coming up soon. Last night of play is Thursday June 24th. 

Unfortunately school events on Thursday June 15 and Tuesday June 20 mean there is no badminton those nights. 

That leaves us with 7 nights of badminton before we stop for the summer break. The opportunities to play are quickly disappearing, so come out and enjoy them while you can.

No Badminton on Thurs. April 13 and Thurs.April 20

Please note that both gyms will be used for school activities on April 13 and April 20. There will be no badminton those nights. 

It's obvious that school events will conflict with badminton more often than in past years because the junior grades have moved into the senior grades' building. From our perspective, the conflicts are somewhat unpredictable in number and timing. 

We are one month into Session #2 of badminton. If you are looking to play more badminton over the session, plan to come out on as many nights as possible in order to allow for the unexpected conflicts.

Thursday March 2nd - No Badminton

I have just now received a notice that the School will be using all the gyms for a special event this coming Thursday March 2nd, so there will be no badminton for us that night.

Hope to see you on court tonight or next week.

No Badminton on Thursday February 23rd and during March Break

Just letting you know that there's no badminton this coming Thursday Feb. 23rd. The school's lower grades are using all gyms for Parents' Night activities. 

No other cancellations are expected until March 16 and 18 when the school is closed for school's March break.

HELP! MORE PLAYERS NEEDEDI

Session 1 of the badminton season ends on Tuesday Jan. 31, and the Session 2 starts on Thursday February 2nd. As shown below THE CLUB NEEDS YOUR HELP TO INCREASE PLAYER NUMBERS. 

Nightly turnouts have been comparatively small so far, averaging about 11 players on Tuesdays and 9 on Thursdays. These numbers include transient guest players who were passing through on a one-time basis. ON 3 OCCASIONS THERE WERE ONLY 5 PLAYERS WHICH RAISES THE POSSIBILITY THAT PLAYERS MIGHT COME TO THE CLUB AND FIND THERE AREN'T ENOUGH PLAYERS FOR ANY GAMES THAT NIGHT ... NOT A GOOD SITUATION. 

Many on the Club’s mailing list have yet to play at the club this Season, which is our first post-covid Season. Some perhaps intended to play but haven’t followed through for a variety of reasons. If you haven’t been coming out regularly, we encourage you AND NEED YOU to become a more active participant at our club. Enjoy badminton’s health benefits -- the fun and laughter, stress relief, exercise and the burning of calories.

More Cancellations

Sorry for the late notice, but road conditons have deteriorated and have now become treacherous. As a result tonight's badminton is cancelled. As well, the Board has cancelled the permit for January 26 because of school activities.... It's been a dificult winter for cancellations! See you on court eventually!
